About Tecnalia and NanoBioCel group from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU):

NanoBioCel research group in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is a Consolidated Group of Excellence type A of the Basque Government and belongs to the CIBER-BBN of the Carlos III Health Institute and to the Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) Nanobiosis. NanoBioCel consists of a multidisciplinary group of professors, postdocs and PhD students researching in the fields of Pharmaceutical Science and Tissue Engineering. The laboratory has a wide range of equipment that is directly applicable to this project. For instance, the group has molecular and cellular biology equipment (thermocycler, electrophoresis and Western-Blot equipment, plate readers, chemiluminescent detection systems, flow cytometer, cell culture room), access to animal experimentation facilities, installations for polymer synthesis (argon/nitrogen supply, chemical hoods) and biomaterials fabrication and characterization (rheometer, 3D bioprinter). In addition, the group has access to powerful technological facilities at the University of the Basque Country (SGIKer support platform) and Nanbiosis such as confocal and fluorescent microscopies, scanning electronic microscopy, AFM, NMR, among others. This group is leading by Jose Luis Pedraz Muñoz,.

Tecnalia is the first private applied research center in Spain and the seventh in Europe, with a workforce of 1,405 highly qualified people (229 doctors). Tecnalia is a leading Research and Technological Development Centre in Europe, whose mission is to transform technology into GDP to improve people’s quality of life, by creating business opportunities for companies, being member of BRTA (Basque Research and Technology Alliance). Tecnalia works with an increasingly strategic business relationship model based on trust, collaboration, and a shared technological approach, whereby our main scopes of action are: digital transformation, advanced manufacturing, energy transition, sustainable mobility, health, and the urban ecosystem. The group is the first private Spanish organisation in contracting, participation, and leadership in the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and we are ranked second in European patent applications.
